Once you cook a live crab yourself you will never buy a pre-cooked one again.
1 crab per person (for this recipe we cooked 3 3+lb crabs)
2 large cans Asahi beer – or your favorite brand
1/4 c prepared crab boil seasoning, or Old Bay Seasoning
1 c fresh parsley
1 c fresh dill
1 c celery tops
1 bay leaf
1 tsp Ancho chile powder
In a very large stock pot (10+ quarts), pour in beer and seasonings. Bring to a boil, simmer for 10 minutes, covered. Add rinsed live crabs, cover lid and cook for 15 minutes. Remove crabs to cool before cleaning.
